Interaction
Creating cutting-edge interactions while fostering
a mobile graphics startup to deliver optimal performance
Although the value of UX in mobile had grown more than ever in 2005, there was still a big gap between users’ expectations and Samsung’s offering, especially the animated interactions. Sadly, the screens had to stay motionless due to the low SW capacity. To change this, I actively worked inside and outside of the UX role. While creating the never-had-seen interactions on mobile, I closely worked with the Samsung open-innovation team to discover a talented SW startup and fostered the company to become the
Samsung UX's front-end development team. Lastly, I rebuilt the implementation process among UX, SW, and the startup to make sure the end-users got the original design concepts. As a result, the users greatly welcomed the new UX and made Samsung Mobile reach the top in the US and Chinese markets in 2007. Also, The new SW structure and development process opened up a whole new possibility for Samsung Mobile UX designers to bring new ideas to the market.
